Stainless steel, originally called rust-less steel, is any one of a group of ferrous alloys that contain a minimum of approximately 11% chromium, a composition that prevents the iron from rusting and also provides heat-resistant properties. The ducts are made from stainless steel commonly used for labs and very humid places.
